Always learning...

I find that the more I learn about art and all of its various mediums, the less I know. That sounds silly, but it's true. I'm sure there will always be a technique, trick or way to explore with paint that I haven't seen or thought of. That IS indeed why I LOVE ART. It's like an old friend and a new friend, all wrapped into one. The familiar and the unknown. I have to make a conscious effort to not let it overwhelm me and put me into a creative freeze.

One of the things that always helps, is to take a class. I chose the Painted Pages Workshop
this summer, to keep my creativity flowing through Sara's class. You can find Sarah's blog at www.sarahearn.blogspot.com  She has shared many ways for us to explore and rekindle creativity through simple, but effective assignments. I created an art journal specifically for her class, and hope to continue to fill it, pass the 4 weeks of our allotted class time. Feel free to stop by her blog anytime, oh, and tell her I sent ya!

(Items used on this art journal cover: Tabbed art journal, made by Paperchase, scraps of fabric, gesso for background, green blank ticket, Tim Holtz paper tape, Silks paint in peach nectar and turquoise acrylic paint.)

Have a great week~

Creativity at it's best....

Everyone loves a wedding! But a wedding with tons of creativity is just that much better...(at least for me!) I was lucky enough to be a part of this couples day, as I helped make the invitations for Emily and Brian. They picked a color, and a style they thought they liked, then a few weeks later, they picked again. And I must say, the second pick was by far the PERFECT one! The colors, the feel, the small details, all made for a great event. I was later asked to create a large canvas that would not only coordinate with the wedding theme, but that the guests could sign at the reception.

Enjoy all of the beautiful photos...(Disclaimer: Many of the ideas were taken from Pinterest over the last 6 months, so if you created the original, or a tutorial of anything on here, feel free to drop me a note and I will gladly add your details. Thank you!)

A great idea to share...

And then there was a gal named Flora...

Who inspired me to paint with my soul, in addition to my hands and my heart. I purchased her book and could not put it down. I'd heard rave reviews from her online students, and even saw the work they were doing. I was impressed. I still am.

Her book, blog and all the goodness that Flora creates can be found here: www.braveintuitiveyou.com
Here's my very first Flora lesson I tried, using all cool colors. I cannot wait to finish it and start another!

Keep creating,
Monica
