In search of...Inspiration...

For the next few weeks my family and I will be vacationing. It may not be as exotic or international as some vacations can be, but it's a place I love...filled with lots of good memories, and tons of inspiration with nature. I've never considered myself much of a nature girl, but being outdoors, with the mountains, water and sunshine sure feels good! In case you wanted to know...I did pack some of my pastels, sketchbook, and tools...I'm sure I'll find some quiet time on a picnic bench under a big pine tree! There are lots of those in the mountains! Happy Summer!

This week from the studio...

First week with both girls home for summer! Less time to create, more time for outdoor fun and inspiration. I was able to get some painting/collaging time in this week in the evenings. Other than SYTYCD, there isn't much else worth watching on TV....so I paint, ink, collage, stamp, and make a mess. My newest toy, which you can see in all three of my pieces this week are called Pan Pastels. Three words. BEST. THING. EVER. I am in love with these. Easy to use, vibrant colors, cool tools to work with, less powdery than other pastels or charcoal. This week I went with a less is more look on the art, since I was trying to get a feel for the new pastels. Later I can start incorporating more elements into the mix. Have a great weekend~

The SHOP is open!

And I couldn't be more thrilled! The Artsy Girl Studio is up and running! ETSY is the best online creation ever. I love that it showcases handmade items created by so many artists from all over the world. I've been a huge fan and buyer for years. To be a part of it makes me feel like a dream has been realized.

I want to thank all of my friends and family who have listened to me ramble and ramble about all the great new art supplies I've bought, my current classes and all the techniques I've learned. I have found my passion for art again, and I am happy to share it with all of you~ check back at the store often. I will be adding more items in the coming weeks~

I usually try to clean up before I go to bed, since my creative energy usually hits me around 8 or 9pm. Last night I was exhausted, and left it. The Art Loft is right outside my bedroom door...Good Morning Mess!  Below you can see my Saturday canvases, and later this week I will post last nights creations.
